General Employment Policy (GEP)
Professionals admitted under the GEP who are on employment condition shall only take such employment as approved by Immigration Department(ImmD). They should seek prior approval from ImmD for any change in employment.
For those top-tier professionals who are permitted to remain in Hong Kong on time limitation only without other conditions of stay, they only need to notify ImmD in writing of the change of their employment within the currency of their permitted limit of stay.
Admission Scheme for Mainland Talents and Professionals (ASMTP)
Professionals admitted under the ASMTP who are on employment condition shall only take such employment as approved by ImmD. They should seek prior approval from ImmD for any change in employment.
For those top-tier professionals who are permitted to remain in Hong Kong on time limitation only without other conditions of stay, they only need to notify ImmD in writing of the change of their employment within the currency of their permitted limit of stay.
Immigration Arrangements for Non-local Graduates (IANG)
Persons admitted under the IANG, who are on time limitation only without other conditions of stay, are free to take up and change employment during their permitted stay without the need to seek prior approval from ImmD.
Dependants
Dependants of the following persons are not prohibited from taking up employment in Hong Kong:
- Hong Kong permanent residents;
- persons who are not subject to a limit of stay (i.e. residents with the right to land or on unconditional stay);
- persons who have been admitted for employment (GEP, ASMTP, IANG, or for training); and
- entrants under the Capital Investment Entrant Scheme(CIES), the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme(QMAS) or the Admission Scheme for the Second Generation of Chinese Hong Kong Permanent Residents(ASSG).
However, dependants of persons who have been admitted into Hong Kong to study are prohibited from taking up employment in Hong Kong unless they have obtained prior permission from ImmD.
All dependants do not require prior permission from ImmD to study in Hong Kong.
